Eskom and Rebate
Eskom, our national electricity supplier, has introduced the Solar Water Heating Program under their Demand Side management division. The SWH Program is an initiative to help promote the roll-out of Solar Water Heater systems throughout South Africa in an effort to reduce domestic electricity demand and minimize load spikes.
As part of the Solar Water Heating Program, Eskom offers a rebate on all certified systems, in an attempt to actively encourage the distribution of SWH systems by making the systems more financially accessible.
Eskom rebates offered vary depending on the system configuration, price and efficiency as tested by the SABS. EFA Solar offers some of the most efficient systems in the industry and accordingly some of the highest rebates which is in keeping with our aspiration to supply superior quality products for a sustainable future.
It must be considered that a number of criteria stipulated by Eskom need to be adhered to in order for the system to qualify for an Eskom Accredited Rebate. Perhaps the two most significant terms dictated by Eskom are, that the electric element must not be greater than 2kW and the time periods which the electric element can be on, must not be during peak load periods. The Eskom Solar Water Heating Project is currently being managed by Deloitte & Touche, which included in their scope is the implementation of the Rebate Program as well as insuring that standards and installation criteria are met.
According to Eskom policy, the responsibility of claiming an Eskom rebate lies with the customer and no longer with the installer. EFA Solar, however, offers a service to process and lodge the Eskom claims on behalf of our customers thereby, simplifying the process and providing a comprehensive customer experience.
